As with all things worthwhile, we should never stagnate. Learning and growing your craft is essential.
I remember back in the day when I had a golf addiction, even though I played constantly and was rather good, I followed cues from the pros ... as even the pros have full-time coaches. For me that translated into many, many golf lessons, which totally paid off in improving my play.
I continue that practice in my creative space. Learning new techniques and sharing ideas with other creatives only serves to spark my creative juices allowing me to implement new ideas into my work.
This past week, I practiced what I preach by taking a weeklong murrine class taught by Nathan Sandberg. It was a ton of work and I learned much! While I don't intend ever to make another of these boxes, the processes learned did spark ideas that I intend to implement into my works. Fun stuff!
It's also important to note that in the creative space .... working with mediums other than your personal focus is also a great help in stretching your imagination and creativity. For instance ... even though I consider myself a glass artist, I also paint. Painting sparks ideas. So get out there and create .. no matter what medium you choose :)
