You might wonder why note-taking is so important in the glass world. Well, let me tell you.

Each piece and each process are very different, even when you have made similar items. Getting the settings/heat/times/mixes correct can be tricky. Because of this, note-taking is super important. I can look back in my notes to see how I accomplished a particular piece or review notes to determine necessary tweaks to move forward with a current piece.

I tend to have stacks of notebooks containing information on types of glass used, firing schedules, and notes on failures and successes to help with future projects.

AND .. even when not working on a new project, it gives me great satisfaction to flip back through old notes - kind of like watching an old movie :)
